Currently an Adjunct Professor of Music at Northern Virginia Community College, Mr. Goldberg has served as conductor of the NOVA Chamber Orchestra as well as teaching music theory, music history and composition.
From 2018 to 2020, he served as Director of Classical Music and Conductor of the Rose Hill Chamber Orchestra at the Barns of Rose hill in Berryville, VA. He also presents entertaining and informative musical lectures for the Osher Life Long Learning Institute, sponsored by George Mason University and at other venues throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
Mr. Goldberg was a founding member and Music Director of the Endymion Ensemble, 1975-1979, which garnered critical acclaim from the New York Times for their yearly concert series at Carnegie Recital Hall. With the Endymion Ensemble, Mr Goldberg conducted the world premier of the chamber orchestra version of Song of Orpheus by William Schuman as well as conducting the world premier and recording for CRI Records, the chamber orchestra suite of William Schuman’s Night Journey, written for the Martha Graham Ballet.
Guest conducting engagements have included performances with the Nashville Symphony, Oklahoma City Symphony, the El Paso Pro Arte Orchestra, the Doctor’s Orchestra of New York and the Goldman Band in summer concerts at Lincoln Center.
Mr. Goldberg holds a Bachelor of Music, cum laude, from North Texas State University and a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. He also spent two summers as a conducting fellow at the Berkshire Music Center, Tanglewood, at Leonard Bernstein’s invitation.
